There’s more than just Alona Beach to Bohol. Panglao offers some great adventures and wonderful cuisine for those who know where to look for them (and guess what? I’m about to tell you where!). From delicious crab cakes to kare-kare and barbecue chicken pizza, you will find a menu that is filled with things that will make your mouth water and your stomach satisfied at Amorita Resort on Panglao Island.
Infinity Pool @ Amorita
Amorita means literally ‘tiny love’ but translates more figuratively into beloved. The Amorita resort has certainly become beloved to those of us who have visited it. A luxurious and comfortable respite from the hot humid weather. And for those of you who are worried that I’ve blasphemed by putting down Alona Beach…don’t worry, from Amorita you can look down from the cliffs and see not only Alona Beach but also the sweet views of Bohol and the Bohol Sea.
Balbacua – House Specialty
I stayed in a deluxe room – a spacious room complete with two queen-size beds. I love the spacious bathroom which has rainfall-type shower with hot and cold fresh water. Each well-appointed deluxe room has individually-controlled air-conditioning unit, cable tv, coffee & tea making facilities, mini bar refrigerator, safety deposit vault, hairdryer and telephone.
Overlooking Alona Beach
On my first night, I had an hour and a half in-room Amorita Signature Massage which made my stay very relaxing. For those who want to enjoy KTV there are separate facilities available. If a little foosball or some board games are more your speed, you’ll find a nice selection available. And for those who can’t leave their work or who bring their social network everywhere with them, there is free wifi throughout the resort.
Buffet Breakfast at Saffron Restaurant
The staff and services at the Amorita Resort are top of the line. Their impressive Master Chef Raphael Ongchiong in the Saffron Restaurant and Bar made sure that we had a wonderful gastronomic experience. If you want a fantastic view with gentle breezes wafting over you, stay near the infinity pool, and perhaps witness the best view of the sunset you wont find anywhere on Panglao Island.
Deluxe Room
Food is one of the few things Im looking forward to try in a resort. In Amorita Resort, you can talk to the Chef and checkout their daily specials to know more about their offerings. Chef Paeng is probably one of the most passionate Chef’s Ive met so far in a local resort, he managed to research, twist and develop recipes that are truly Boholano.
Crispy Sinigang na Baboy
Since the island is covered by coconut plantations, Boholano recipes are mostly cooked with “Gata” (coconut cream) and of course they love ginger. If you plan to stay in the resort, tell their staff that you want to tryout their Ginger Menu, dont worry, its not like you are chewing ginger althrougout your meal… In most cases, you wont even notice theres ginger in it. For me, the resorts Ginger Menu is more than just a gastronomic discovery, its a flavorgasmic love affair.
Toiletries
The resorts architechture and overall design is quite impressive too, the roof in the private villas are shaped like a “Salakot” – local farmers hat. The hand made wooden furniture near the restaurant are unique and comfortable, it also brings the true ambiance of Bohol to the forefront. And, if you are more of a do-er than a relaxer, don’t worry, the staff at the bar, restaurant, and throughout the resort are knowledgeable and able to suggest great trips.
Takla in Coconut Cream
Water sports is one of the newest offerings in the resort, make sure to ask the frontdesk if you want to tryout diving in Panglao. If you prefer, they can even book them for you. From scuba diving to renting motor bikes to touring the Chocolate Hills and seeing the cute little tarsier for which Bohol is famous. There is no shortage of fun in Amorita Resort.
This way to Infinity Pool
If you prefer to have privacy, you can choose to stay in one of the 14 private villas and relax in your personal private pool while getting food and drinks delivered by room service. In addition, the staff at Amorita Resort is well versed in creating custom packages such as marriage proposals, honeymoons, or anniversaries… Just ask and you will find flowers strewn, fireworks going off, and more than you can imagine!
The lack of distraction is probably the only distraction in the resort. If you are an urban dweller who’s not tired of crowded places, you can head down to the beach area and roam around Alona Beach for some night life. I’ve been to Bohol couple of times already but you must agree, Its not how many times youve been to a destination, its always about the new discoveries, new people you met and new stories to share.
